The Strong Neighborhoods Initiative (SNI) emerged in 2010 as a strategic approach to neighborhood revitalization in Oklahoma City. Recognizing that struggling neighborhoods require comprehensive support, the City Council's Neighborhood Conservation Committee developed a holistic program designed to transform communities through community-informed physical, social, and economic investments. By supporting housing improvements, infrastructure development, and expanding citizen opportunities, SNI aims to guide neighborhoods toward self-sufficiency. The program's approach involves close collaboration between City staff, neighborhood residents, local stakeholders, and community partners to develop and implement tailored revitalization strategies unique to each community's needs.

Since its inception, SNI has successfully worked with seven neighborhoods: Classen Ten Penn, Classen's North Highland Parked, Culbertson's East Highland, and Capitol View.

Currently, SNI is working with three neighborhoods: Capitol Hill, Metro Park, and Martin Luther King.
