On January 14, 2025, the Oklahoma City Council designated Ross Heights as a new Strong Neighborhood Initiative (SNI) area.
SNI is a targeted neighborhood revitalization program funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
SNI works alongside neighborhood residents for around 5 years to improve their neighborhoods. Past SNI projects include home repairs, new home construction, sidewalks, parks, tree plantings, public art, afterschool programs, and improved public spaces. Since the creation of the SNI program 11 years ago, the City has invested $18 million in SNI neighborhoods, and more than $56 million in private donations has been invested.
Ross Heights Neighborhood Presidents Wallace Johnson said, "The revitalization of a neighborhood is how to help people stay in their homes. My hope is real. I'm going to talk to neighbors who I haven't talked to before."
The SNI Ross Heights program will officially kick-off in July 2025, but work is already underway to help identify Ross Heights' unique strengths, opportunities, and vision for the neighborhood.
