On January 14, 2025, the Oklahoma City Council designated Stockyards City as a new Strong Neighborhood Initiative (SNI) area.

SNI is a targeted neighborhood revitalization program funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

SNI works alongside neighborhood residents for around 5 years to improve their neighborhoods. Past SNI projects include home repairs, new home construction, sidewalks, parks, tree plantings, public art, afterschool programs, and improved public spaces. Since the creation of the SNI program 11 years ago, the City has invested $18 million in SNI neighborhoods, and more than $56 million in private donations has been invested.

Stockyards resident Elizabeth Larios De Farrell said, "Being part of OKC's SNI means Stockyards City will not be able to foster a sense of community and collaboration by enhancing local infrastructure, promoting safety, and encouraging beautification efforts that contribute to a vibrant, welcoming environment. This initiative will empower residents to actively participate in decision-making, improve walkability, and create a shared vision for sustainable growth, ultimately strengthening the neighborhood's identity and connection among its members."

The SNI Stockyards City program will officially kick-off in July 2025, but work is already underway to help identify Stockyard City's unique strengths, opportunities, and vision for the neighborhood.
