Residents helped shape the bond program

With OKC spanning 621 square miles, resident feedback, planning studies and other tools were essential for identifying high-priority needs in our community.

Resident input was a vital part of shaping priority projects for the bond. From September 2024 to January 2025, the City of OKC hosted 16 pop-up events, eight public meetings, one virtual meeting and one Facebook live event in addition to online engagement opportunities. Attendees were given an opportunity to talk to City staff, discuss their neighborhood and community needs and share ideas.

With a focus on critical infrastructure that promotes the health and safety of our residents, City staff carefully prioritized over 6,000 project ideas from the community.

These recommendations were evaluated based on the following criteria: population and employment, revitalization and economic development, equity, land use diversity and safety. The City also aligned residents' ideas and comments with street condition ratings, and ongoing investments through programs like Better Streets, Safer City and MAPS 4 to maximize community benefits.

Additionally, residents' responses from the past decade on the City’s action center also helped inform the selected projects as well as data from Vision Zero, Oklahoma City’s plan to reach zero fatalities and eliminate deadly crashes on public roadways.

Along with public input considerations, functional needs like safety concerns and infrastructure conditions, overall impact to residents, alignment with city plans and goals, population, connectivity, and cost efficiency helped inform the selected infrastructure improvements.
